Newark and Sherwood District Council is hosting its first Apprentice Open Day, on Friday, 27th June, at Castle House.
The event is designed to inspire and inform those starting their career or looking at a potential change about the wide range of apprenticeship opportunities available within the council.
The day will begin with a dedicated session for schools, from 10am to 12noon, followed by a drop-in event for the general public from 12noon to 2pm.
Attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from different business units across the council, explore live apprenticeship vacancies, and learn more about how they can earn while they learn in a supportive and community-focused environment.
The event will also feature a Speakers’ Corner, where former apprentices will share their personal journeys and career successes, alongside interactive games and activities to make the day engaging and memorable.
Coun Paul Peacock, council leader, said: “We are committed to investing in our community and creating real opportunities for people to thrive—whether they’re just starting out or looking to take a new direction in their careers. Apprenticeships offer a fantastic route to gain valuable skills, earn a wage, and build a meaningful future. This Open Day is about showing what’s possible and why Newark and Sherwood District Council is a great place to grow your career.”
