Care home residents have fun on river outing

Posted onPosted on 14th Aug

Staff and residents from Barchester’s Edingley Lodge care home enjoyed a visit to Newark Marina, where they had a boat trip on the Newark Crusader.

The boat set off from Newark and sailed along the River Trent, taking the scenic route past Newark Castle.

Residents reminisced about boat trips with their family and friends, spotting wildlife and animals along the way.

General manager Jilu Stephen said: “We absolutely love being able to take our residents out and about to visit different places. It makes us so happy to be able to access venues like this.

“It has been a fantastic day and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”

Ron, a resident, said: “We have all had the most wonderful time visiting the Newark Crusader.

“It is so lovely to be able to visit places like this and soak up the atmosphere.

“I especially liked our personal guided tour and how welcoming the staff on the boat were.”

Jilu said their varied life-enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental, and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
