Car parks at Nottinghamshire country parks and green spaces set to reopen

Posted onPosted on 15th May

Nottinghamshire County Council has revealed that the car parks at its country parks and green spaces will reopen from Saturday, 16th May, following recent Government advice.

Rufford Abbey Country Park, Holme Pierrepoint Country Park, Bestwood Country Park, Cotgrave Country Park and car parks attached to 1,900 hectares of green spaces the Council manages will reopen.

The car park at Sherwood Forest will remain closed whilst plans are put in place for a safe reopening.

Coun John Cottee, Communities and Place chairman, said: “I would like to thank everyone for their patience since we were asked to close the car parks under the Government’s Coronavirus guidelines. The parks have all remained open but have only been able to be used by people locally.

“With people now able to travel to get out and about or for exercise we have worked with our partners to re-open car parks. I would like to remind people that strict social distancing guidelines remain, and we will monitor usage so we can ensure everybody’s safety.

“Shops, cafes, visitor centres along with play areas will remain closed as will toilet facilities.”

All car parks will be open at the times they were previously, apart from Rufford Abbey Country Park and Home Pierrepoint Country Park which have revised times. Where car parking charges apply these will remain.
