MKM Building Supplies, the UK’s largest independent builder’s merchant, has opened a new branch in Newark, creating 15 new jobs in the area.
The brand’s 83rd branch. based at Stephenson Way on the Brunel Drive Industrial Estate, is designed to be a one-stop shop for local building trade and retail customers.
MKM Newark is headed-up by branch director, Bill Burroughs. Originally from Southwell, Bill has lived in Newark for more than 30 years and brings a wealth of industry expertise to the role.
“Newark is a thriving market town and there is an incredible amount of building projects in the area — from new-build estates, to repairs, maintenance and extensions,” he said.
“We are keen to support the local trade with their projects.
“I have recruited a fantastic team of 15 people with a combined knowledge of more than 200 years in the industry.
“My ambition is to establish the best merchant in the area, promote the MKM brand name and grow a fantastic new branch with a great team serving a growing amount of customers to enable us to be successful and profitable.
“The whole team is excited to be opening the new branch and the wellbeing of our customers and staff is our absolute priority. We have strict social distancing and Covid regulations in place to ensure our staff and customers are kept safe.”
