Bin collection day changes

Information stickers are now being placed on bins of households in Newark and Sherwood, detailing changes to their collection schedule over Christmas and the New Year – with waste and recycling collections remaining unaffected by any Covid restrictions.

Some collections will be brought forward and others pushed back, depending on residents’ normal bin collection days.

Coun David Lloyd, leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “The council is committed to delivering a full waste and recycling service despite the changing Covid measures.

“We want to reassure residents that, as with the first lockdown in March, waste collections will not be affected, and our crews will continue to deliver a dedicated service across Newark and Sherwood.

“I would like to express my thanks to residents who have continued to recycle during the pandemic and also offer my thanks to our hard-working crews as they continue to sustain all waste collection service during these unprecedented times.”

If your bin is regularly collected on Monday 21 December it will be collected on Saturday 19 December, Tuesday 22 December to Monday 21 December; Wednesday 23 December to Tuesday 22 December, Christmas Eve to Wednesday 23 December, Christmas Day to Christmas Eve, Thursday 24 December.

There will be no change on Monday 28 December, Tuesday 29 December, Wednesday 30 December, Thursday 31 December.

The collection on Friday 1 January (New Years Day) will take place on Saturday 2 January.
