Students at Magnus Church of England Academy performed their Christmas Carol concert at St Mary Magdalene Church, Newark — welcoming around 200 visitors to the event.
Jackie Thacker, leader of youth and community music at Magnus, who organised the concert, said: “It was a delightful evening of music and worship, shared within the walls of our beautiful parish church.
“It certainly filled everyone’s hearts with a little festive cheer. I am so proud of all our talented students who took part, they are an absolute credit to Magnus.”
During the service students read prayers, a poem, and sang traditional carols such as Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, and Joy To The World, alongside a more contemporary piece, It’s A Magical Time.
Anna Martin, academy principal, added: “This year’s carol service is particularly special as it revives a tradition of our event being held in St Mary Magdalene Church.”
Mila Bolanos-Martin said: “The carol concert was really good and I enjoyed it. It was a great experience for us to have.
“I wasn’t nervous, just excited, because we had been rehearsing for a while. Some people have a fear of singing or speaking in front of a crowd like that, but, once we started, everyone got over it and had fun!”
