A Middlebeck Christmas was full of festive events

Posted onPosted on 17th Dec

Christmas at Newark’s Middlebeck development included a flurry of festive events.

A Christmas lights switch-on and carol singalong, fun festive market, and Santa’s grotto all brought festive cheer to the area, attracting people from the nearby neighbourhood as well as across Newark.

Adults and children watched the Christmas lights switch-on outside Christ Church CofE School, which included singing carols with Newark Town Band, followed by a festive market in the school.

At a Santa’s Grotto at the school visitors could meet Father Christmas and receive a special gift, as well as enjoying festive crafts and refreshments.

Middlebeck resident Karly Au said: “It was a wonderful experience for our family! All of us enjoyed seeing Santa and we made a lot of crafts together. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of it, and we really appreciate all the staff who participated in this event.”

Alongside the events organised by Middlebeck’s master developer, Urban&Civic, the community was visited by Santa and his elves as part of a tour by Newark and District Round Table to raise money for local charities.

The events were just part of a packed calendar in Middlebeck all year round, with plans for plenty of fun planned for 2025.

Middlebeck is already home to more than 500 families in the new community, with new homes available to buy from Miller Homes and Bellway Homes.

Simon Murphy, Urban&Civic’s community development lead for Middlebeck, said: “We’ve already got a wonderful community at Middlebeck, and seeing them come together for Christmas events in the past few weeks really has been wonderful.

“From the Christmas lights switch-on and carols, along with our fun festive market, and our Santa’s Grotto at the weekend at Christ Church CofE school, we’ve had some great family- focused events that have brought everyone together and spread some real festive cheer.

“As our community gets bigger and more people take up the chance of moving into a great home at Middlebeck, we can’t wait to see everyone come together regularly for some of our great events.”
