After a year of fundraising, developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands has raised just under £60,000 for its charity of the year, the Newark-based Children’s Bereavement Centre.
The centre provides specialist bereavement support services to children, young people, and their families across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, helping them navigate grief and build resilience following loss.
The charity offers a range of services, including one-to-one therapeutic support, group activities, and guidance for professionals, helping hundreds of families each year.
Over the course of the year, Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands raised funds through a series of successful fundraising initiatives. Highlights included a golf day involving 116 golfers made up of employees and subcontractors, a competitive go-karting event, and a family-friendly Easter fun day featuring an Easter egg hunt, raffles, and games.

The developer has also announced that the centre has been selected as its Charity of the Year again.
Clare Sears, community fundraiser at the charity said: “The Children’s Bereavement Centre are overwhelmed by the support of all the staff at Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
“The amount of money raised is incredible and will enable us to continue to provide free support to children and their families in the community at the most devastating time in their lives.
“Sadly, the statistics are that by the age of 16, one in five children will have lost a parent.
“The support has also enabled the work of the charity to be shared within communities, again leading to more families receiving the help they need.
“To be chosen for another year is humbling and it’s a privilege to work with all the teams and support with the challenges and events. As a company you should be incredibly proud. Thank you.”
The support of Barratt and David Wilson Homes will make a significant difference to children across the communities served by the Children’s Bereavement Centre. With £200 funding eight weeks of one-to-one counselling for one child, this partnership will enable the charity to support 300 children with vital emotional wellbeing and bereavement services.
At a time when demand for support has risen sharply, with waiting lists across all four service areas, this contribution will help more children access the care they need when they need it most.
Mark Cotes, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “Our partnership with Children’s Bereavement Centre has been a wonderful opportunity to come together in support of an important cause.
“Raising £60,000 is a significant achievement, and one that would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our colleagues and local communities.
“Beyond fundraising, this partnership has helped raise awareness of the charity’s important work, and we are grateful to everyone who played a part in making the year such a success.”
