Middlebeck’s free family fun day will return to the heart of the community in August, with even more entertainment and activities.

The Summer BBQ and Family Fun Day will be held on 1st August at Gannets, promising food, family activities, live music, and more.

Entertainment will include live music all afternoon, including two music acts, a bouncy castle, circus skills, inflatable cosplay superheroes, family activities, garden games, and fun fitness challenges with Transform Middlebeck. YMCA, friends of Middlebeck, will also be bringing its fun Gaga Pit activity.

The 2026 event has been organised by Urban&ivic, the master developer behind the community at Middlebeck, in partnership with local charity Positive Pants Family CIC, which supports Newark’s young people and families with their mental health.

Simon Murphy, Urban&Civic’s community development lead for Middlebeck, said: “Our free family fun day is always wonderfully attended and we’re hoping this year will be no different. We’ve got a packed programme of entertainment and activities and it’s a perfect chance for the community that we’ve created here to come together and get involved. We can’t wait to see everyone there.”

The day runs from 12noon to 6pm and also includes a licensed bar run by 8 Sail Brewery, along with a barbecue from Gannets. The whole event is free to attend, though some activities such as face painting will be chargeable separately on the day.

Claire Clements, co-founder and director for Positive Pants Family CIC, added: “At Positive Pants we’re all about bringing community together and supporting families, so this kind of thing is the perfect way to do that. We’re thrilled to be involved and can’t wait for what is going to be a fun-packed day.”
