The 2026 Newark Dragon Boat Festival is already making waves, with organisers confirming that more than 50% of team places have been filled several months ahead of the event.
The popular community festival, which brings together businesses, organisations, and groups from across the region, is supported by headline sponsors GXO Logistics, in partnership with Currys, alongside Middlebeck Newark.
Race organisers said their backing highlighted a shared commitment to supporting local communities and making a meaningful difference to families in need.
Taking place at Newark’s Riverside Park on Sunday, 13th September, the festival promises a vibrant day of racing, teamwork, and community spirit, as teams compete on the River Trent in aid of two charities, the Children’s Bereavement Centre and Beaumond House Hospice.
Chelsea Tarasevičė, of GXO, said: “As one of Newark’s largest employers, we believe it’s important to support the communities where our colleagues live and work.
“We’re proud to be a headline sponsor of the Newark Dragon Boat festival again, and to support two fantastic local charities whose work makes a real difference to families across our community.
“We love working with both charities, and the festival is always such a fun, inclusive day that brings people together.
“It’s a brilliant event for Newark, and we’re delighted to play our part in making it happen.”
Simon Murphy, community development lead at Urban&Civic, said Middlebeck was also delighted to be headline sponsors of the festival for a second year.
“The event is a highlight in Newark’s event calendar, and it is a credit to the Children’s Bereavement Centre and Beaumond House Hospice, who are responsible for putting it together,” he added.
“At Middlebeck we place great importance on contributing positively to the local community, and helping these two fantastic local charities to support more families in need is a great way to do this. We can’t wait for the event!”

Organisers said the continued support from sponsors plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the festival and maximising funds raised for both charities.
With demand already high and places filling quickly, teams are encouraged to sign up soon to avoid missing out on what promises to be an unforgettable day.
Dragon boat racing continues to grow in popularity across the UK as an accessible and inclusive team activity, suitable for all abilities.
Whether entering a team or offering support behind the scenes, local people are encouraged to get involved.
Team registrations are now open, and volunteer opportunities are also available for those wanting to help make the day a success. Go to www.newarkdragonboatfestival.co.uk for further details.
