NSPCC fundraisers are hosting their 26th annual race day event this summer, with day tickets still available to the public.
The event is part of Southwell Racecourse’s day of races on 2nd June and will raise vital funds to support the children’s charity’s work in the area and across the UK.
Last year, the NSPCC’s Schools Service visited 100 schools across Nottinghamshire and more than 25,000 children took part in Speak Out, Stay Safe workshops, while across the Midlands the charity engaged with around 3,300 professionals, adults, and children through campaigns sharing safeguarding messaging across the region.
Funds raised will also support NSPCC services, including Childline, which last year delivered more than 160,000 counselling sessions to children and young people across the UK, including an estimated 2,700 in Nottinghamshire.
Judith Swann, secretary and treasurer of the NSPCC’s team of fundraisers in the Bingham district, said:
“This is a wonderful event that attracts people from across the region to raise the NSPCC’s profile as well as vital funds for the charity.
“The support we get from staff at the racecourse is wonderful, and it would be terrific to welcome as many people as possible to the event on the day.
“As always, everyone has worked incredibly hard to ensure the event will be a success, and tickets are still available with just £15 giving visitors access to all enclosures. Hopefully the weather will be good enough for a picnic, but refreshments are available onsite as well as a raffle with some amazing prizes up for grabs – we’d love to see you there!”
Sarah Brown, NSPCC supporter relationship fundraiser, added: “This sounds like it’s going to be another fantastic event organised by Judith and the committee, and we’re so grateful to everyone who is helping to make it happen.
“The NSPCC relies on the public for the majority of its funding, and every pound raised really does make a difference.
“Every collection, bake sale and race day helps ensure our services like Childline can be there around the clock to support children, young people and families here in Nottinghamshire and across the UK.”
