Strictly a fab-u-lous evening promised at Palace Theatre!

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood is bringing his new show to the Place Theatre, Newark, in June.
Celebrating the release of his first solo album, Revelations – Song Boys Don’t Sing, Craig will showcase his singing talents and revealing tales of his life and love for performing.

“This show is unlike anything I’ve ever done,” he said. “People aren’t going to see ‘The Judge, Craig’. They’re going to see the real Craig. It’s about my life, it’s who I am. It’s the most personal tour I’ve ever done.”

Starting his journey into showmanship at school, music-loving Craig began his career working in musical theatre, before becoming one of the UK’s most influential directors, and earning Laurence Olivier Award nominations for his choreography for Spend Spend Spend and My One and Only.

In 2024, Craig had the opportunity to work with UK musical theatre record label, Westway, delivering an album of tunes.

“So the record, and the tour, gives me an opportunity to sing songs that I know and love,” he added. “The show will be about my love for the music and how it’s affected my life.”

Craig will be joined on tour by Ben Goddard, a talented musician who fans will know from their double-act on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Coun Rowan Cozens, deputy leader and portfolio holder for Heritage, Culture and the Arts at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “It’s wonderful that Craig Revel Horwood has chosen to bring such a landmark tour to the Palace Theatre.

“It’s exciting to welcome such an icon of the show industry, and we’re looking forward to what promises to be a magnificent evening.”

Craig’s show is the beginning of big-named stars visiting the Palace Theatre this year. In April, Billy Billingham, chief instructor on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins, will share his inspirational story, as while former international footballer Paul Merson hosts An Evening with Paul Merson, a dive into dressing room gossip, life working for the media, and his personal challenges.

ABC frontman Martin Fry will present an intimate evening of stripped-back music and conversation in June – a must-see for all music lovers.

Rowan added: “I am so proud of our town’s rich heritage and its support for culture and growth. The council is committed to doing all we can to make Newark a destination of choice for people to live, work, and visit, and the fact that we can attract such celebrities to our beautiful theatre building is another proud testament to how fantastic Newark is.”
