A fitness training studio in the heart of Middlebeck is celebrating its first anniversary after spending a year bringing the community together through exercise.
With an active lifestyle at the heart of the masterplan for Middlebeck’s development in Newark, the opening of fitness facility Transform Middlebeck formed part of master developer Urban&Civic’s active hub initiative.
Since then the business, run by brothers Craig and Nathan Allwood (pictured) has become a key part of the local community, working with local sports teams and soon due to offer sessions in the local care home.
Situated next to the Gannets café, Transform Middlebeck offers small group PT sessions, helping people with everything from chasing their fitness goals to full body transformations.
Founder and personal trainer Craig said: “It’s been an amazing first year for Transform Middlebeck. We’ve built up a strong client base, most of whom are from Middlebeck itself, and who vary from long-term membership clients to people who take part in our various challenges.
“The feedback has been that people love having us right on their doorstep, it’s easy and convenient. The fact we offer small group sessions means there is a real community feel.
“We do a consultation before people sign up and a lot of the time they say they want to get to know people. They might have come from London or moved from somewhere else and a lot say they want to meet people from the area, and this is a great way to do it.”
After a successful first year, Craig said Transform Middlebeck has plenty of plans in the pipeline, working with different local sports teams and plans to offer sessions at Middlebeck’s Kings Court care home.
Mark Redding, communications and partnerships manager for Urban&Civic at Middlebeck, said: “It’s great to see how Transform Middlebeck has become such a key part of the community, offering a valuable amenity right on the doorstep of people who live here, and providing another great reason to move to Middlebeck.
“As well as Transform Middlebeck, we are fortunate to have the Sustrans Route 64 running right through this community, providing our residents with connections to the countryside and an opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy walking and cycling.”
