New facilities for Bakkavor Desserts workers

Posted onPosted on 23rd Aug

Newark is home to the biggest chilled desserts business in Europe – and Bakkavor Desserts, based on the Jessop Way Industrial Estate, is making a significant investment in new onsite facilities for its 2,000 colleagues.

The new facilities to support the day-to-day activity of the site include an outdoor picnic and smoking area, bathroom facilities, four additional meeting rooms including a multi-faith prayer room, and an enlarged ‘Choux Box’ staff shop that provides subsidised food.

Alongside these new facilities, colleagues across Bakkavor Desserts Newark are also taking part in a Doubles Foosball tournament funded by the Site Employee Forum for the chance to win Love2Shop vouchers. In addition to a new foosball table for the site, this competition will award the winning pair with a £50 voucher each, the runners-up with a £25 voucher each, and third place with a £10 voucher each.

2023 has been a memorable year for Bakkavor Desserts so far with the celebration of its 30th anniversary, the launch of the Delicious Dessert Company King of Éclairs, and the fundraising of more than £2,000 for two foodbanks.

Andrzej Szokalski, general manager – operations at Bakkavor Desserts Newark comments: “Our employees at Bakkavor Desserts Newark make the business what it is, and it is important to show that their hard work and dedication is acknowledged and appreciated. We are constantly looking for ways to make working for us a happy and rewarding experience – be that through continued investment in the site, one off competitions, or long service awards – such as the one coming up in October. At Bakkavor Desserts Newark we are focused on improving and developing the site to make it a great environment for everyone to be a part of.”
