Donations doubled to hospice during appeal

The countdown has begun for the Beaumond House Hospice Christmas challenge. From 29th November until 6th December every pound donated to the hospice, through the Big Give website will be doubled.

The hospice said it is hoping to raise £7,500 in just one week to help support patients and their families over the Christmas period.

Donations to the campaign will be matched by a number of local businesses as well as The Reed Foundation, meaning your money can support twice as many patients and families during the festive period.

When asked what difference a visit from the Hospice at Home team would make to one of the patients, Mick, we were told “Without the intervention of Beaumond House I would spend around 160 per week on my own. A visit or call from Hospice at Home would mean a great deal, unless you are lonely you cannot imagine the impact.”

The hospice added that it was looking to raise a total of £7,500. In order to access the £3,750 in the matching pot, it needs to raise £3,750 in online donations.

A spokesman said: “We hope that our supporters and the local community will give generously this year to help us reach our target and enable us to support patients and families in their own homes to make those precious memories of Christmas together.

“Thanks to the following businesses which have pledged their support to Beaumond House Hospice: The Federation of Small Businesses; Simply Sweet (Newark) Ltd; Soapology; APT Legal; Academy Systems; Derry Ltd; Wrigleprint and Norwood Park Golf Club.
