Newark Academy has congratulated its Year 11 students on their GCSE results and their hard work in the run-up to the exams.
After beginning their Key Stage 4 education in the middle of a global pandemic and having to undertake their studies throughout national lockdowns, remote learning and home isolations, the class of 2022 have today received the results of their efforts.
The academy achieved the strongest set of outcomes it has ever seen — the progress that their students have made is exceptional. Nearly 75% of all pupils secured a grade 4 and 46% of this year’s cohort secured a grade 5 in both English and maths.
Chris Fisher, head teacher, said: “I am very proud of our students and staff who have worked incredibly hard throughout the academic year to prepare for GCSE examinations. Our students have secured the best results in the Academy’s history I couldn’t be more proud.”
“After a challenging two years, our students have tackled unprecedented obstacles. Undeterred, and supported by an incredibly hard-working team of staff, they have achieved the results that will enable them to go onto their next educational destinations.”
“I am pleased that growing numbers of students are deciding to stay on with us at NA6 to study A-Levels, where this journey of success will undoubtedly continue — we wish them all the best of luck with the various pathways they are taking.
“Getting to this point is a true team effort and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers for their unwavering support.”
Andy Seymour, executive head teacher, added: “I am delighted to see our students secure such exceptional outcomes this year. After a very challenge year, our students have surpassed themselves by achieving the strongest set of outcomes that the academy has seen.
“The progress that our students have made is exceptional and they are now able to progress onto their preferred pathway, with the overwhelming majority joining NA6.
“I want to pay tribute to the staff, parents, carers, governors and everyone associated with the academy who have supported and cared for our students throughout the last year. As always, I am immensely proud of our students and wish them every success in the next stage of their journey.”
