Royal Voluntary Service has received a donation from a regional housebuilder to continue its support for the older and vulnerable people in Nottinghamshire.

The charity received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Nottingham thanks to its Community Champions scheme, which has run since 2015.

Royal Voluntary Service provides a lifeline to people in NHS hospitals and local communities and has seen an increase in demand for its services due to the coronavirus.

Emma Collins, spokesperson for Royal Voluntary Service – Nottinghamshire, said: “We had to rapidly adapt our services and introduce COVID-safe alternatives. These have included companionship calls, welfare checks, grocery and prescription deliveries and emergency food packs, so that those in need continue to feel connected, supported and more able to cope.

“Persimmon Homes’ donation is so important, and appreciated, so we can continue these new ways of working, for as long as is needed.”

Persimmon Homes Nottingham makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities in the areas where it is building.
