Cash chance for groups working with over-70s

Posted onPosted on 23rd Jul

Groups in Nottinghamshire who are supporting the over-70s are being reminded to enter a monthly scheme run by a regional housebuilder that could see them awarded up to £1,000 to support their work.

Persimmon Homes launched Community Champions with a view to helping community groups, charities and good causes across Nottinghamshire with two donations of up to £1,000 made locally every month.

During the pandemic, the housebuilder is focusing on charities, clubs and organisations that support or work with the over-70s.

Neil Follows, managing director of Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We have always believed in supporting the communities where we build, especially grassroot activities, and we hope people understand our desire to support specifically the over-70s, a vulnerable and often isolated group in our society, who we feel need our support.

“We hope as many local groups enter the scheme as possible so that we can help people throughout the region and support varied causes that put the elderly at the heart of their work.”

The Community Champions initiative is run by all of Persimmon Homes’ 31 operating businesses, together with its Plc head office, with £64,000 donated nationally every month. Since it was launched in 2015, the Community Champions scheme has donated more than £3m to around 3,500 groups.

To be considered for a £1,000 donation, people need to complete an online form explaining why their charity or group, which works with the over-70s, deserves the donation and how it would be spent. To apply to Community Champions, visit: www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
