Players, parents and coaches from a Blidworth football team have done their bit to help local homeless people — by raising more than £500.
Blidworth Welfare FC under-9s raised the cash with an array of fundraising activities over the last season and a half — from raffles and auctions to collection buckets at matches.
The money has been donated to Framework, a charity providing support and accommodation to homeless people across Nottinghamshire.
Manager Jamie Chappell explained: “We always look to support a local charity and to give something back to the community. We think it’s important for the boys to realise, even at a young age, that there is another world out there, and to value what they have.”
Coach Liam Craggs added: “As a police officer working in the community I am well aware of the work Framework do with vulnerable people and knew this money would be put to a good use.
Framework fundraiser Caroline Hannigan said: “We are thankful to everyone at the club not only for this donation, but also for thinking of local homeless people in this way.
“It means a great deal to us that they are willing to place their trust in us in this way.”
